Welcome to the Friends of the Coro website

Welcome to The Coro

The Coronation Hall is South Lakeland’s premier and largest arts & events venue and is an ever-popular community hub. Throughout the year it hosts hundreds of different events ranging from fully-fledged productions, exhibitions and coffee mornings, to business meetings and wedding receptions.

You can view the events calendar and book tickets via the Coro Hall website.

Why does the hall need Friends?

The Hall was built to commemorate the Coronation of King George V. The land was originally purchased in 1913 after fire destroyed the old County Hotel on the site and on June 3 1914, work began to build our beautiful Coronation Hall. 2014 saw the 100th anniversary of the building we affectionately call ‘the Coro’. The building has seen some exciting times in the last century.

The Friends of the Coronation Hall Association has been set up to help the community of Ulverston celebrate what many view as the social and cultural heart of the town. Beginning with the 100th anniversary in 2014, the Friends hope to celebrate every aspect of the Coro and aim to develop, extend and support the work of the Hall to prepare it for the next 100 years of entertaining the people of Ulverston, South Lakeland and all fans of the arts. We need your support to help achieve this. Membership form here (print and return)

Our 2017 AGM will be held on Monday 13th March in the Coronation Hall Supper Room
